More and more COVID “cases” are being reported in the headlines each day, fanning the flames of fear and deepening the depths of depression. It’s high time for a second look.
Cases are based on the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test, which takes very small samples of DNA and multiplies it up to millions of times. This enhancement is measured in cycles; each cycle is a doubling of the previous one. The CDC, FDA, and the WHO all recommend using 40 to 45 cycles. But Dr. Anthony Fauci himself has stated that the chances of an accurate result at 35 cycles or more are “minuscule.”
One PCR study shows that at 17 cycles, 100% of the positive results were confirmed to be accurate. But by the 33rd cycle, accuracy fell to a mere 20%, meaning 80% were false positives. Most tests done in the US use between 37 and 45 cycles, driving the false positive rate to well over 90%. At that level, even Fauci said that all one gets is “dead nucleotides.” No wonder we are seeing ever-rising case counts that are not reflected in hospitalizations or mortality counts.
Moreover, quite often the positive PCR result is not even corroborated by clinical observation. A person can be entirely healthy and non-contagious and still be counted as a “case.” When such counts are being used to drive public policy, this can only be called fraud. Understanding the science, a Portuguese court just ruled that PCR tests are unlawful “evidence” of alleged COVID-19 infections and cannot be used as a basis for quarantining anyone.
We should be investigating why every respiratory illness is now being attributed to COVID-19. An upswing in respiratory illness is expected at this time of year. Under the CARES Act hospitals get paid more for COVID-19 cases: a clear incentive for such identification. We see a conflict of interest here.
We are calling on our medical professionals to insist that all PCR tests be run at reliable cycle thresholds. We are calling on our government agencies to publish the cycle threshold being used with all PCR tests. And we are calling on the media to flag newly reported cases with a note that huge questions overhang the accuracy and reliability of case counts.
